With Mark Reid FRGS – author of ‘The Inn Way’ guidebooks & Mountain Leader

Book Four – The Southern Fells

Walk the Wainwrights with Mark Reid on this 7-day walking trip, as we summit all the 30 ‘Wainwrights’ in Book Four of his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells (The Southern Fells).

Based in the Lakeland town of Ambleside for four days and then the village of Boot in Eskdale for three days, we’ll spend seven days completing seven fantastic walks in the Southern Fells of the Lake District.

  • Reach all 30 summits (Southern Fells) on seven guided mountain walks with Mark Reid, a highly experienced Mountain Leader
  • Experience the camaraderie of ‘Walking the Wainwrights’ with like-minded people
  • Make new walking friends and share your sense of achievement on each summit
  • Sociable evenings at Ambleside & Boot with your fellow walkers
  • Small group sizes – maximum 8 people per Mountain Leader
AMBLESIDE & BOOT, LAKE DISTRICT

This 7-day walking trip will be based from Ambleside for 4 days and then from Boot in Eskdale for 3 days, from where we will be able to access the Southern Fells. Ambleside and Boot offers a range of accommodation and facilities including Youth Hostels, hotels, pubs and B&Bs as well as a campsites. There are also shops and cafes in both locations. The nearest train station to Ambleside is at Windermere, from where there is a regular bus service to Ambleside. We’ll car share to the various starting points of the walks.

I would recommend staying at Ambleside on Saturday, Sunday & Monday nights, and then at Boot on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
