Book One – The Eastern Fells

Walk the Wainwrights with Mark Reid on this 6-day walking trip, as we summit all 35 ‘Wainwrights’ in Book One of his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells (The Eastern Fells).

Based in the Lakeland village of Glenridding, we’ll spend six days completing six fantastic walks in the Eastern Fells of the Lake District.

  • Experience the camaraderie of ‘Walking the Wainwrights’ with like-minded people

GLENRIDDING, LAKE DISTRICT

This 6-day walking trip will be based from Glenridding, from where we will be able to access the Eastern Fells. Glenridding offers a range of accommodation and facilities including Youth Hostel, hotels, pub, B&Bs and a campsite. There are also shops and cafes. The nearest train stations are Windermere or Penrith, from where there is a bus service to Glenridding. We’ll car share to the various starting points of the walks.

Please note: This trip includes 6 fell and mountain walks over 6 days, with a combined total of 106 km (66 miles) and 6,710 metres of ascent (& descent). All timings and distances are approximate. The precise routes and mountains will be decided each day, given weather conditions and group needs. All walks will include mountainous terrain, steep ground and mountain summits; we may experience adverse weather conditions. Some walks will include scrambles and exposed paths or ridges, as well as the Grade 1 scramble along Swirral Edge; full guidance will be given along these sections. A good level of fitness & stamina will be required.
