Boots and Beer Walking Weekend Yorkshire Dales Howgill Fells | TeamWalkingGrassington is a beautifully quaint village that lies in the heart of Wharfedale, famed for its narrow alleyways (called ‘folds’), cobbled square and as the setting for the latest TV series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. The walking around Grassington is superb, with limestone ravines, ancient woodland, magnificent waterfalls, beautiful villages, crumbling remains of old lead mines and wild moorland. Grassington is one of the best centres for walking in the Yorkshire Dales, and is a lovely place to spend a weekend.

The Devonshire is wonderful country inn overlooking Grassington’s main square, and is a Timothy Taylor’s ‘house’ – enough said!

Mark Reid has written several books about the Yorkshire Dales, including The Inn Way… to the Yorkshire Dales, and so knows the surrounding fells, hills and dales like the back of his hand.
