Book Six – The North Western Fells

Walk the Wainwrights with Mark Reid on this 5-day walking trip, as we summit all 29 ‘Wainwrights’ in Book Six of his Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells (The North Western Fells).

Based in the Lakeland town of Keswick, we’ll spend five days completing seven fantastic walks in the North Western Fells of the Lake District.

KESWICK, LAKE DISTRICT

This 5-day walking trip will be based from Keswick, from where we will be able to access the Northern Western Fells. Keswick offers a range of accommodation and facilities including Youth Hostel, hotels, pub, B&Bs and a campsite. There are also lots of shops, restaurants and cafes. The nearest train station is Penrith, from where there is a bus service to Keswick. We’ll car share to the various starting points of the walks. Please note: This trip includes 7 fell and mountain walks over 5 days, with a combined total of 74 km (46 miles) and 5,160 metres of ascent (& descent). All timings, heights and distances are approximate. The precise routes and mountains will be decided each day, given weather conditions and group needs. All walks will include mountainous terrain, steep ground and mountain summits; we may experience adverse weather conditions. Some walks will include scrambles and exposed paths or ridges; full guidance will be given along these sections. A good level of fitness & stamina will be required.
