Spend an enjoyable and adventurous two days at Braithwaite in the Lake District, hiking some of Lakeland’s most iconic mountains in the North Western Fells guided by Mark Reid, an experienced Mountain Leader.
Discover little-known paths, adventurous routes, ridges & summits, taking you away from crowds and into a world of majestic mountains. Our routes will take us onto the mountains and fells that surround Braithwaite including the famous mountains of Grasmoor, Grisedale Pike, Dale Head, Hindscarth, Robinson and Cat Bells.
Relax in the evening with your fellow mountain walkers at the Royal Oak at Braithwaite.

BRAITHWAITE, LAKE DISTRICT
This walking event will be based at Braithwaite which is situated near Keswick, between the lakes of Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake, with the imposing mountains of the North Western Fells of the Lake District rising high above. Braithwaite offers a range of accommodation including a pub, hotels B&Bs, campsite and self catering. There is a village shop too.

OUTLINE OF THE EVENT
9am: Meet at Braithwaite for a chat about the day
9:15am – 5pm: Guided mountain walk around the Coledale Horseshoe, including the mountains of Barrow, Outerside, Sail, Crag Hill, Grasmoor, Hopegill Head and Grisedale Pike.
8pm: Meet at the Royal Oak to recount our day’s adventures over a meal and drink (optional)
DAY TWO – NEWLANDS HORSESHOE
9am: Meet at Braithwaite for a chat about the day
9:15am – 4:30pm: Guided mountain walk around the Newlands Horseshoe, including the mountains of Robinson, Hindscarth, Dale Head, High Spy and Cat Bells.
Please note: The walks will be in the region of 16 – 18 km with between 1,200m and 1,400m of ascent, although the precise routes and mountains will be decided each day, given weather conditions and group needs. All walks will include mountainous terrain, steep ground and mountain summits; we may experience adverse weather conditions. Some walks may include Grade 1 scrambles, along narrow and exposed paths or ridges. All timings and distances are approximate.
