OVERVIEW OF THE WALKS
8:30am: Each morning we’ll meet at the Bothy Cafe at Braemar for a chat about the day. We’ll then car share to the starting points.
9am – 6pm: Full day’s guided mountain walks into the heart of the Cairngorms, taking in some of the glens, hills, Corbetts and Munros surrounding Braemar. All walks will include rough, rocky, steep and exposed mountainous terrain, steep ground with sustained ascents and descents and mountain summits (up to potentially 1155m high); we may experience adverse weather condition. There will be stream and river crossings, narrow sections, scree/boulders as well as pathless terrain. There will also be lanes, tracks, paths at the start and end of the walks. The walks will in the region of 20km with 1,000m of ascent/descent, although these will vary each day. We usually finish Friday’s walk mid afternoon (between 3pm & 4pm) to allow onward travel.
Evenings: On a couple of evenings, we can arrange to meet at a Braemar pub to recount our day’s adventures over a meal and drink (optional)
Please note: The above routes are only suggestions and may be subject to change prior to the walking week or during the walks. The precise routes and mountains will be decided each day and whilst on the walks, given weather conditions and group needs. Some walks may include some exposed paths and scrambling (Grade 1). We will car share wherever possible to the start of the walks; some walks may be linear with a bus back to Braemar. All timings and distances are approximate.
