TeamWalking is operated by Mark Reid, an experienced hill-walker who has walked over 7,500 miles across the North of England over the last eleven years.
MARK REID, author of 'The Inn Way' guidebooks
Mark Reid lives in Harrogate on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and is passionate about walking, country pubs and the British countryside. He has extensive knowledge of local history, geology, geography, folklore and country pubs, as well as walking and navigational skills. He enjoys sharing this passion and the landscapes of the North of England he knows and loves with others.
Mark Reid graduated from Lancaster University with a BA (Hons) in Geography in 1990 and then worked for various breweries as an Area Manager until the publication of his first book in 1997 (The Inn Way… to the Yorkshire Dales), an event that inspired him to give up his job to concentrate on walking and writing. Mark has since written 16 successful walking guidebooks includiung ‘The Inn Way’ and ‘Walking Weekends’ series. He writes regular walks and outdoor articles for various regional and national newspapers and magazines.
He is currently featured on ITV Yorkshire’s ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’ walks series.
MEDICAL SCHOOL
Mark currently runs a quarterly course for medical students at Hull York Medical School in conjunction with two GPs and a Physical Activity Specialist entitled ‘Walking for Health – Introduction to Hill-Walking’.
WALKING GROUP LEADER
Mark Reid is a qualified Walking Group Leader (Mountain Leader Training Association) and holds a current Rescue Emergency Care first aid certificate as well as Civil Liability Insurance.
For larger groups, it may be necessary to provide an additional hill-walking guide. All of our guides are experienced and fully qualified Walkiing Group Leaders or Mountain Leaders.
